Let’s say you’re supporting a client that’s connected to a terminal server, and you need to switch to another user connected to that terminal server. If you start switching users in the same way that you usually do when working on a terminal server, you’ll immediately lose view of the remote session. However, there are two workarounds that can help you get the job done without losing the session.
Here’s how you can switch terminal server users remotely with FixMe.IT.
Method 1: Logoff/Logon
- After starting a remote session, log off as the current user. You’ll be directed to the Windows Logon screen.
- Log on as any Windows user.
- After logging in, you’ll be able to switch between the terminal server users (Task Manager => Users) while maintaining the remote session.
Method 2: Connect in unattended mode
- Install the FixMe.IT Unattended Client on the remote machine and connect to that machine in unattended mode.
- You’ll now be able to switch between the terminal users without losing the active remote session, as it was started in unattended mode.
