By default, when you type a query in the Windows 10 search box you will get the results from your local desktop as well as from the Bing search engine. The latter may prove itself useful to some users, however, many others will most probably consider it a distraction and prefer to remove Bing results from Windows 10 search.
Here’s how you can disable Bing Search in the Windows 10 Start Menu.
Disable Bing Search using the registry editor
Warning: exercise caution when modifying the Windows Registry. Do not change any registry keys unless instructed to do so. Incorrectly editing the registry may cause system-wide problems that will require performing a clean reinstall of the OS.
- Press Win+R to open the Run dialog.
- Type regedit and click OK.
- Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer
- Right-click the Explorer folder and select New > DWORD (32-bit Value) to create a new value.
- In the Value name field, type DisableSearchBoxSuggestions. Set the value data to 1 and click OK.
- Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
