How to Fix Commonly Reported Expert Update Issue (Updated)

September 27, 2017 by Dan Kukarsky

In the recent days we’ve received several reports concerning an issue that occurs when users are updating to the newest version of the FixMe.IT Expert application. Here’s a short guide to help you understand the nature of this problem and quickly resolve it.

During the installation process you may get persistent error notifications that vary case-by-case, but result in a similar update failure in the end.

In order to resolve the issue and run the updated Expert app successfully, follow these four simple steps:

  1. Permanently delete all existing FixMe.IT Expert components using a cleanup utility: download and run FixmeitExpertRemover.exe. The utility requires admin rights to perform the cleanup successfully.
  2. Install the updated Expert application using the following .msi file.
  3. Upon completing the installation, you can run the updated Expert application using the newly created shortcut icon.

The complete instructions can also be found in FixMe.IT’s Support Center.

There may be several causes of the described problem. Some of them are:

  1. The initial Windows Installer database file (.msi) and/or cache registration file is missing or damaged.
  2. The database is corrupted as a result of an incomplete installation/uninstallation procedure.

The Techinline team apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the issue. If you continue to experience any problems with completing the update, please contact our support team directly for timely assistance.
