How to Enhance Your FixMe.IT Account’s Security

September 14, 2016 by Dan Kukarsky

Keeping customers and their private data secure has always been one of the top priorities for us at Techinline. With that in mind, FixMe.IT was designed to help you deliver the highest level of services while ensuring that all communications between you and your customers stay as secure as possible. However, if you’re looking to further enhance it or gain more control of all incoming and outgoing connections, there are a few tips that we’d like to share.

How to Enhance Your FixMe.IT Account’s Security

First of all, let’s repeat the basics. Note that all data transmitted with FixMe.IT is fully encrypted and does not allow any third-party interceptions of your screen captures, keyboard commands, or files. On top of that, our remote desktop application prevents any unauthorized remote connections to your or your clients’ computers. In other words, nothing can happen without the user’s prior consent. You can find more information on the FixMe.IT security features here.

Change your password regularly

Creating secure passwords and changing them on regular basis is the first and key step to maintaining security of your account. In order to change your password, open the FixMe.IT expert application, go to My Account > Change Password section. You can also read our recent guide on how to create a secure password, improve its strength and further reduce the risk of unauthorized access to your account.

Create individual logins for your team

Are you an IT team leader or a small tech support business owner with several techs under control? For your convenience, we’ve made the FixMe.IT license “untied”. This means you can share one license with others, which makes FixMe.IT an even more cost-effective remote desktop application compared to similar solutions available on the market.

That said, if there are multiple users on the team who have access to the same FixMe.IT account, you’ve got the option to create sub-accounts for each user by submitting a request to [email protected]. Upon receiving the query, our support team can create up to five individual logins for your account to provide you with a higher level of security along with improved auditing capabilities. This way you will be able to review each user’s session history logs individually, and thus monitor which technician connected to a particular customer and when.

Furthermore, you can benefit from creating individual unattended client lists for each sub-account. With that, you can accurately review all of your account’s unattended connections and take measures if an unauthorized connection takes place.

Enable two-factor authentication

If your business needs an enhanced security layer to protect all communications and meet PCI requirements, you can opt for two-factor authentication that can be enabled for any FixMe.IT account at no cost. The two-factor login process requires the account holder’s username and password along with a virtual token sent via email, which has to be provided upon login. To enable two-factor authentication for your FixMe.IT account, submit a request to [email protected], and we’ll take it from there.

Still have questions? Don’t hesitate to contact us directly, drop a line on Twitter, or send a private message on Facebook. Our support team is always here to assist.
