Microsoft released a Windows security update on August 12th that contains a change to the Windows Installer update process. This update is covered in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2918614
The new update procedure makes it impossible to automatically update old versions of the Techinline Expert application. As a result, upon attempting to run an old version of the Techinline Expert app, you will receive the following error message:
[image url=”https://blog.techinline.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/UserCancelTheInstallation.png” alignment=”center” margin_left=”0″ margin_right=”0″ margin_top=”0″ margin_bottom=”0″ width=”358″ height=”155″]
If you’ve experienced this issue, please use the following work-around to manually update the Techinline Expert application:
1)Uninstall the current Techinline Expert application from your Windows Programs
2)Then, proceed to fixme.it/Expert to download and Run the updated Techinline Expert application.
Techinline’s upcoming release will contain a fix for this problem, at which point all version updates will be performed automatically and “behind the scenes”.
